Tavaniotis Mansion, Maronia

Description

The Tavaniotis Mansion in Maronia was built between 1880 and 1885. It was the residence of merchant Parrasios Tavaniotis, a native of Maronia. This historical listed monument is a representative example of house architecture in Western Thrace, showcasing a blend of traditional Thracian cottage elements with urban additions. The restored mansion houses a permanent archaeological collection titled “Maronia and Ismaros from prehistoric to modern times”.
