Xenokrateion Archaeological Museum of the Sacred City of Messolonghi

Description

The Xenokrateion Archaeological Museum opened in December 2021. Set within in a historical building featuring neoclassical characteristics, the structure was built from 1885 to 1889 to house a Municipal School for Girls thanks to a donation from Konstantinos Xenokratis, a national benefactor from Eastern Thrace. Its permanent exhibition showcases more than 1,200 artifacts, dating from prehistoric to late Roman times (100,000 BC – 3rd century AD), all sourced from the Regional Unit of Aetolia-Acarnania.
