Description
The Archaeological site of Mycenae is one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece and once served as the center of the Mycenaean civilization. Mycenae experienced great flourishing during the 2nd millennium BC and is associated with the legendary King Agamemnon. Standing out on the site are the Lion Gate, the Acropolis, the Cyclopean Walls, the Royal Grave Circles, and the Domed Tombs. The findings reveal the power, organization, and wealth of one of the most important centres of the prehistoric Greek world. Today, Mycenae is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major destination of historic interest.
