Pikionis Pavilion, Delphi

Description

Harmonically integrated into the surrounding area, Pikionis Pavilion was constructed in 1959 in Delphi. Made of stone, with bas-reliefs on the walls, and impressive floors, it became a unique example of the postwar architecture. Designed by architect Petros Pikionis, son of the famous architect Dimitris Pikionis, the Pavilion is considered one of the most beautiful balconies in Delphi. Built on behalf of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (EOT), this tourist pavilion has served as an entertainment center, a refreshment stand, a cafeteria, and a bar. Here, many famous figures of the 1960s, such the Karamanlis couple, Maria Callas, and Jackie Kennedy enjoyed the enchanting view. It was deserted in the late 1990s and remained so until the beginning of 2022, when it was renovated with the support of Polygreen.
