Archaeological Museum of Heraklion

Description

The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion is one of the largest and most remarkable museums in Greece and one of the most important ones in Europe. Its exhibits include representative samples from all periods of Cretan prehistory and history, covering approximately 5,500 years, from the Neolithic era to Roman times. A prominent position among the collections is held by the unique masterpieces of Minoan art, which can be admired throughout its evolution. The Museum has the most significant collection of Minoan antiquities worldwide, rightfully earning it the title of the premiermuseum of Minoan civilization. After an eight-year renovation, the museum opened its doors again to the public in 2014.
