New Archaeological Museum of Chania

Description

The New Archaeological Museum of Chania is located in the Chalepas neighborhood of Chania, the city’s second most important area after the Venetian core. It opened in 2021, replacing the old archaeological museum of Chania, and it houses collections from western Crete.
Its exhibitions span a wide time frame, from the Neolithic to the Roman Eras, showcasing finds such as vessels, figurines, jewelry, inscriptions, and mosaics. Special emphasis is placed on the Minoan civilization and the evolution of settlements in the area, offering a comprehensive picture of the historical continuity of western Crete.
